Cycling Socks

No. Plenty of casual riders get by in ordinary sports socks. On a long or hot ride, though, a cotton sock holds sweat against your skin and can slide and bunch in a snug shoe. Ours are knit from COOLMAX yarn that dries faster than cotton, bamboo and wool. The cuff keeps them in place as you move.

Many cyclists prefer thin, snug socks because cycling shoes are built to fit close. DryStep socks have more cushioning than many dedicated cycling socks, so they may suit roomier cycling shoes or indoor training. Check your shoe fit before a long ride.

Most road riders wear a tall sock that finishes below the calf, the height of Crew. Mid-Crew and Quarter are the shorter options if you'd rather a mid-leg sock. Since every cut has the same COOLMAX yarn and cushioning, pick the height you like the look of.

It's mostly tradition. In road cycling, white socks with dark knicks have been the look for a long time. Mid-Crew and Quarter both come in white. If you'd rather a dark pair, Crew has three dark ones, black, dark grey and midnight navy.

Dry them out between rides and keep the bacteria down. Pull the insoles out after a wet or sweaty ride and leave the shoes somewhere airy. Our shoe deodorisers left in them overnight soak up the moisture the smell builds on. In our socks, we use silver yarn under the foot to kill the bacteria that feed on sweat.
