Hot sessions in shorts and trainers

By the end of a hot class in shorts, your feet have been sweating inside your trainers the whole time. A cotton sock holds onto all that sweat and is damp and starting to smell by the cool-down.

We knit Quarter from recycled COOLMAX® yarn that lifts sweat off your skin and dries faster than cotton, bamboo and wool. In the forefoot there's breathable mesh ventilation to let the heat out of your shoes. We use silver yarn in the footbed to kill the bacteria behind the smell. Under the foot and through the Achilles, cushioned terry loops soften each stride. Every pair also has arch support and a seamless toe. We reinforce the heel and toe where socks wear through first.

Height and fit

Quarter is the second lowest of our four cuts, between the ankle and Mid-Crew. A stretchy ribbed cuff hugs your ankle and keeps each sock in place as you move. The heel is set at 90 degrees and follows the shape of your foot. Wear them under chinos or with shorts and leggings, in trainers, runners or golf shoes. They come in black or white and in two sizes, US M 5-9 / W 6.5-10.5 and US M 9-13 / W 11-14.

What people wear them for

You'll see Quarter at the gym, in classes, on runs, on the bike and around the golf course. It's one of the four cuts in our gym socks. Some of our customers wear it every day with trainers. Others wear it to the office in chinos and train in it after work without changing socks.

What are quarter crew socks?

A quarter crew sock is taller than an ankle sock and shorter than a crew. Quarter socks and quarter crew socks are two names for the same height. DryStep's Quarter has a stretchy ribbed cuff and soft terry loop cushioning. It's knitted from the same COOLMAX yarn as our other three cuts.

Are they shorter than crew socks?

Yes. Crew finishes below the calf and Quarter stops well short of it. Pick Quarter if you'd rather less sock with shorts in a hot gym or on a run. Our crew socks handle training as well as boots and trousers at work.

Quarter or ankle socks?

Go for Quarter if you want more sock around your ankle and a ribbed cuff. Our ankle socks, Ankle Tab, end on the ankle bone with a tab above the heel of the shoe. That tab protects the back of your ankle where a trainer rubs. Both cuts come in black and white and suit the gym, runs and golf.

Are they the same as mid-crew socks?

No, Quarter is the lower of the two. Our mid-crew socks are taller and finish above the ankle bone. With shorts you'll see more of Mid-Crew than of Quarter. Mid-Crew adds vanilla and mist grey to the black and white you get in Quarter.

Do they work for running?

Yes, Quarter can tackle any run, the same as our other three cuts. It sits a little higher than Ankle Tab and suits trail runs or a run in shorts. Our COOLMAX yarn keeps your feet dry on a long run and breathable mesh in the forefoot lets the heat out of your runners.

Are they good for golf?

Yes. Over a long walk around the course in golf shoes, COOLMAX keeps your feet dry and the cushioned terry loops underfoot soften every step between shots. Silver yarn in the footbed helps keep the smell down over a round. Ankle Tab and Mid-Crew suit golf as well.
