Hot feet in runners over summer

In summer you're in shorts and runners from a 6am walk until a barbecue at a mate's that night. On a hot day a cotton ankle sock is wet through by lunch. By the time your runners come off, it smells.

We knit Ankle Tab from recycled COOLMAX® yarn. It draws sweat off your foot and dries faster than cotton, bamboo and wool. Breathable mesh ventilation in the forefoot lets heat out of your runners. That smell comes from the bacteria that feed on sweat. The silver yarn we put in the footbed kills them. Cushioned terry loops under the foot and through the Achilles soften every stride. We add arch support and a seamless toe to every pair and reinforce the heel and toe.

Height, colours and sizes

Ankle Tab ends on the ankle bone, the lowest of the four cuts in our men's socks and our gym socks. Pull it on in runners for a run or in trainers for a gym session. Quite a few of our customers wear it in golf shoes for a full round as well. It comes in black and white, in Medium (US M 5-⁠9 / W 6.5-⁠10.5) and Large (US M 9-⁠13 / W 11-⁠14).

Should guys wear ankle socks with shorts?

Yes. Ankle Tab goes with shorts and runners on any warm day. For more sock showing, our quarter crew socks are one cut up and our crew socks, below the calf, are the tallest we make. You can train in Crew with shorts too.

Can men wear ankle socks with jeans?

Yes, in sneakers or runners. Standing up, Ankle Tab sits under the hem of most jeans. When you sit down, the tab and a bit of ankle show above the heel of your shoe. Under jeans with boots or leather shoes, pick Crew for the extra height.

What size socks for a size 12 shoe?

For a US men's size 12 shoe, choose Large (US M 9-⁠13 / W 11-⁠14). Our other size is Medium (US M 5-⁠9 / W 6.5-⁠10.5). Please check the size chart on the product page for the current range and the equivalent women's sizes.

What are the best men's ankle socks?

Look for one that stays on your heel inside a runner. DryStep's 90 degree heel follows the shape of your foot. Above it, the tab protects the back of your ankle from rubbing against your shoe. A stretchy cuff keeps them in place as you move.

Do I need long socks for deadlifts?

You don't need them, but a lot of lifters wear them. On a deadlift the bar travels up your shins and a taller sock keeps it off bare skin. For that session, pull on Crew. It comes up below the calf and has the same yarn and cushioning as Ankle Tab.
