Why boots get wet inside

In a warehouse, a garden or down a mine, most socks are damp inside your boots by lunch. Cotton or bamboo holds that sweat against your skin for the rest of the shift. By the time you get home, the pair you peel off is wet and your boots smell.

COOLMAX® moisture-wicking yarn helps move sweat away from your skin, so your feet feel more comfortable through a long shift. It pulls sweat off your skin and dries faster than cotton, bamboo and wool. We use silver yarn through the footbed to kill the bacteria that feed on sweat. For a 12-hour shift on your feet, there's soft terry loop cushioning under the foot and through the Achilles. Every pair has arch support and breathable mesh ventilation. The toe is seamless and both the heel and toe are reinforced.

Bamboo work socks or COOLMAX

Bamboo feels soft and gets sold as breathable. In a boot it soaks up sweat and dries slowly, the same as cotton. COOLMAX, the yarn in every sock we make, dries faster than cotton, bamboo and wool.

Crew and Mid-Crew in work boots

For work boots and RMs, our crew socks finish below the calf. For ankle boots, mid boots or trainers, our mid-crew socks still cover the ankle and sit about 4cm lower. Both stay put through a shift and a gym session after it. Each comes in Medium (US M 5-⁠9 / W 6.5-⁠10.5) or Large (US M 9-⁠13 / W 11-⁠14).

What socks are best for sweaty feet in work boots?

You want a fibre that pulls sweat away from your skin and dries inside the boot. Cotton and bamboo hold it against your feet for the whole shift. Our moisture wicking socks are all knit from COOLMAX because it dries faster than both.

Are thick socks better in work boots?

No. A thick cotton sock soaks up more sweat and stays wet against your skin through the shift. On a hard floor, cushioning in a fibre that dries does the job better. Ours have soft terry loop cushioning underfoot in COOLMAX yarn and are the thickness of a gym sock.

What socks should I wear with work boots?

Wear a sock that comes up past the top of your boot, because the collar is where a boot rubs your leg. It also needs to stay up, or it slides down and bunches under your heel inside the boot.

Will they stay up in boots?

The stretchy ribbed cuff and shaped heel are designed to help the socks stay in place throughout your shift. Fit and feel depend on your leg and boot. A 90 degree heel follows the shape of your foot and stops them creeping down into the boot.

What socks are best for work boots in summer?

Pick a fibre that dries fast, because a hot boot soaks a cotton sock through by mid-morning. COOLMAX dries faster than cotton, bamboo and wool. Ours have breathable mesh ventilation in the forefoot to let heat out of the boot. In the footbed, silver yarn helps reduce odour over a long, hot shift.

How long do they last?

Reinforced heels and toes are designed for durability. With proper care, the knit is designed to maintain its fit. Line dry them inside out after a cold wash and keep them away from bleach and the dryer.
